What do we mean by vocation, anyway? Good article for you to read.

Do you know your club members?

Here is something that I discovered quite by accident. When you log in to the club website www.d7040passport.org , the site opens on the admin page (two columns with links). The heading on the left-hand column is My ClubRunner. About half way down there is a link for “View Club Photo Directory.” Once you click on that, everyone’s information card, with a photo, comes up. That’s one of the reasons why I ask everyone to have a picture in their profile. It’s handy if you want to find someone who lives near you for example.

Just a few lines below that is a link to the Email Message Centre. This is a very useful feature if you want to send a message to everyone in the club, or to a few people. You’ll always find the correct email address there.

Do some exploring. Click on the links and find out where they take you. If you discover something that is very useful or surprising, share it in our Facebook group. Oh, you did not know we have a closed Facebook group? It’s called 7040 Passport Club and can be found at https://www.facebook.com/groups/1734739396840883/ . It exists to share questions and concerns about our Rotary Club in 7040. Use it to share events from other clubs that you may have seen on Facebook. Use it for anything to keep in touch with Club members.

The Rotary Foundation Weekly Messages: Week 29

DO LARGE GRANTS EVER TAKE PLACE HERE?  Yes! Rotary global grants can have large projects, scholarships, vocational teams all here in the US or in Canada…or in any Rotary country/region. One of the most amazing aspects of our great foundation is that there are opportunities for large projects where ever there is need. Criteria must be met but there have been and will continue to have large-scale projects in “developed” countries. If you want to see them in motion go to vimeo.com and view the wonderful Grant done after Katrina hit…See your Foundation and other nations come together to help where there is great need!

YOUR FOUNDATION SUPPORTS THOSE IN NEED WHICH MAY BE IN YOUR TOWN!
Last year we applied for a District Grant to assist with planning for the Youth Now farm. We have finally been given the go-ahead and will need to contribute $3500. Some of that will come from assistance from other clubs, and from some of the fundraising revenue that we get from other clubs. We are asking everyone to contribut $50 towards our goal as well. If you pay half-year or quarterly dues, include that $50 with your e-transfer for January 1. Just send a note to Dave that you have done this.

This grant is for planning. Next year a Global Grant, with Ottawa clubs and an international partner will continue the work at Youth Now.

Rotary ABC's - Standard Rotary Club Constitution

Rotary clubs exist in more than 200 countries and geographical areas and cut across dozens of languages, political and social structures, customs, religions, and traditions. How is it then that all of the more than 32,000 Rotary clubs of the world operate in almost identical style? The primary answer is the Standard Rotary Club Constitution.

To receive a charter, a prospective Rotary club must accept the Standard Rotary Club Constitution, originally adopted in 1922. This document outlines administrative techniques for clubs to follow in holding weekly meetings, procedures for membership and classifications, conditions of attendance, payment of dues, and other policies relating to public issues and political positions. It is available for download at www.rotary.org.

When the Standard Rotary Club Constitution was accepted, it was agreed that all existing clubs could continue to follow their current constitution. Although most of those early clubs subsequently endorsed the standard constitution, a few pre-1922 clubs still conduct their club affairs according to their former constitutional provisions.
